Tornado in Tulsa

I totally felt like I was in a tornado while in Tulsa. So much to do and so much fun to have! I got to see tons of family and we celebrated my Grandmother's 99th birthday!

The trip started with a famous Oklahoma meal! Chicken fried steak at the Tulsa Press Club. It was so good! My uncle Bill told me it was the kind of meal that sticks to your ribs.

Newt we were off to Good Day Tulsa. The host, Kirsten Dickerson, was so sweet and fun to work with. On the show I made flower glazed brie and a green salad with flowers, honey glazed walnuts and a raspberry vinaigrette. Steve made flower printed napkins by using a mallet and pansy petals.

DePaul Book Signing!

We had such a great time at DePaul! We met some lovely CJ watchers. One gal (Dawn?)makes the cutesiest Little Kiddle jewelry. Her earring were so adorable...she said she will start selling on etsy soon. I know I will getting a pair of her earrings. :)

We met tons of kids! Everyone choose their own kooky kritter supplies and took home bottles of Mod Podge!

Chicago was so fun....The best part was getting to see all of Steve's family! xoxoxoxo


After the signing we had delicious appetizers and cocktails with comcast at The Chicago Firehouse restaurant. They were comcastic!



We still had a little energy so we headed to the CUBS game! Check out all the people on the roof. We did not actually go in the game we went to the famous "Cubby Bears"




I am still tired from Chicago! Tomorrow morning I fly to Tulsa, Oklahoma for my Grandmother"s 99th birthday and a book signing at Barnes and Noble on August 9th at 7:00pm. The best part about the Tulsa trip is that my hubby will be joining me and I get to see my family! YEA!

Book Tour: Chicago Pizza!

Last night Steve and I have the most fabulous and delicious pizza at Gino's East in Chicago. This place is a classic Chicago Pizza restaurant. The walls are covered with signatures, love notes and phone numbers. When Steve was in school he penned his name on the walls but of course we cold not find his name. The food was delicious!

Book Tour: Play Time in Chicago

We landed in Chicago! Steve is in hog heaven (he is from here) and we are doing all sorts of fun stuff. We walked around downtown, checked out the buildings, shopped and of course ate piazza!

Kooky Critters

We are moving on to our next book tour stop.....Chicago! We will be at the DePaul University, Barnes and Noble (loop campus) on August 1st at 12:30pm. Join us for a "make and take" we will be making Kooky Critters and we have enough supplies for the first 50 people! Plus we are giving away all the supplies to make bottle cap charms and bottles of Mod Podge!

They are so easy to make. Just join two stuffed animals together by cutting off the head of one animal and stitching it to the body of a second animal. Add ribbons, buttons, rhinestones etc. Get creative!

ABC 7 - View From The Bay

Today we taped View From The Bay in the Bay Area of California. We had so much fun! The crew was so awesome, the producer was cool as a cucumber, really sweet and full of good ideas (even while we did a 12 min. segment.....) and the camera man was super sharp and nice. Lisa Quinn the host of the show was so professional and fun to work with. She has a great sense of humor and she is cute as a bug.

Pleasanton, CA was such a picturesque town and the people were lovely. We met some Creative Juice watchers that were really inspiring...Art Teachers!





Towne Center Books was a great shop with tons of interesting books and lots of kids books! and not just regular kids books - lots of authors that I have never seen before.

Book Tour: Encino Gets Crafty

The Encino leg of the book signing tour was so fun! We met some awesome fans and got to see some of the CJ team. We featured our Bottle Cap Charm project and it looks like it was a hit. After, we grabed a bite to eat and a glass of wine at an Italian joint just a door down.

What a great day and much thanks to everyone at the Encino Barnes and Noble, Kate at Sterling/lark and Sue for putting on a wonderful event and making us feel at home for our first signing! We will never forget today!

Bottle Caps Galore? Then Re-Craft Them!

Take a closer peek at a few of the bottle cap projects that are on display during our book tour. We made necklaces, cuff links, bracelets, frames, gift boxes, hair clips,rings, pins - it is endless what you can make with bottle cap charms.

Bottle Cap Charm Instructions:
bottle caps
small images
1" circle punch
diamond glaze
sewing pin
tacky glue
small nail
hammer
wooden board


1. If you want to use a jump ring: punch one hole through the rim of each bottle cap with a hammer and nail. Use an old wood board as a work surface. If you want to glue the charm: you will not need to punch a hole.

2. Use the 1" circle punch to cut the image into a circle. Glue the image to the to the inside of the bottle cap and allow to dry. If you punched a hole: Make sure the image is facing up, toward the punched hole.

4. Seal the image with a thick coating of Diamond Glaze and allow it to dry following the manufacturer's instructions. If you get an air bubble, poke the bubble with a sewing pin. Allow to dry unmoved for at least 24 hours.

6. To make a single pendant, use jewelry pliers to attach a jump ring through the punched hole and slide onto a necklace.

7. Glue to findings, frames, magnets, etc using a strong glue like E6000.
