A is for Autisum - Julians Necklace & HBO

Abilities Not Disabilities - everyone can use this lesson in creativity and life.

Anyone who reads my Blog, probably knows by now that I am casting for a new "teen" craft show and that my first stop for casting was Etsy. I posted the first casting notice in the forums (I love forums and message boards). I had a great response and met some fun new people. One of the sellers that I met, designbylizzie, has a heart of gold and a 11 year old son named Julian, who has Autism. April is national Autism Awareness Month and now is the time to show your support and understanding. To learn more about Autism visit www.autismspeaks.org or www.autism-society.org.

Julian was the brainchild behind this necklace. Lizzie took his drawing and made the piece from his idea. His words read."Abilities,,not Disabilities" So true.. As Lizzie says "His idea , my inspiration." All proceeds from the sale of the this necklace will go to Autism research. Each piece is solid silver and made by hand. I purchased one for my sister, she teaches high school students with Autism and she flipped out!

Julian "The Designer"

Check out the HBO documentary, Autism The Musical.
It airs all month long in April.

Linda Blair & Steve Go Dog Crazy!

Peek a boo we see you!

Many moons ago, I wrote about our friend, the fabulously talented and awesome animal activist - Linda Blair. She does amazing things to care for animals with her WorldHeart Foundation. Well I am pleased to say that the foundation/ranch has been going through some "dog house" improvements! Steve was on hand to help out. If you want to learn more about Linda and her efforts please visit her website: www.lindablairworldheart.com.

Steve will take two!

Everyone is all smiles!

Linda Blair Rocks & Luvs Dogs Too!

We had so much fun at Living Live today!

Of course, as usual the whole gang was so cool and nice. The soy candles were a hit and Florence and Meshach did such a great job making them. Check out the instructions for re-crafting soy candles here.

How awesome does Florence look!!!

We also got the chance to meet fabulous Linda Blair, she champions a wonderful cause that she founded called the Linda Blair World Heart Foundation.

Linda is working to end pet "over-population' as wells as ending illegal "dog-fighting." She is currently building kennels just outside of Los Angeles and a really cool thing about her organization is that they are one of the few animal rescues in Los Angeles that rescue mothers and newborns.

To learn more please visit her website and volunteer or donate funds/supplies to keep animals safe, healthy and in good homes with good people.

We are off to the Encino book signing tomorrow!

Cheers and have a creative week,

Cathie & Steve
