It is a sad day in the craft world........
My Mom sent me this email and I thought I would pass it along to all of you.
From:
Christina Lazar-Schuler
Lazar StudioWERX
After a year of ups and downs with both personal, medical and financial issues, I have come to the difficult decision of closing our virtual doors - for good.
It is with heavy heart that I make this announcement, but it is one that at this point in my life, I have to make.
For many years I have worked too hard, too long and have ignored that which is most important to me, my friends and family. So... at a time of annual renewal, a time of change and growth, I am bidding farewell to my business and welcoming back my sanity, my personal life and my health.
Starting today, all Lazar StudioWERX rubberstamps and paperWERX products are all selling at 75% off the listed retail price in our online store. Warehouse lots of paperWERX paper will be listed after a final inventory evaluation and bulk lots of paper in packages of 25 will be available early next week.
Claudine Hellmuth's Poppet stamps and papers will no longer be sold through our site and will be available through Claudine Hellmuth exclusively. An update on the transition between Claudine and our site will be issued in the coming week and Claudine will announce availability of the remaining inventory soon.
I have appreciated your support throughout the years and deeply appreciate that you have stood by our little company all these years. I am sad to see this chapter of my life close, but I am greatly looking forward to a chance at a new and exciting future.
Thank you.

Magical Halloween and Holiday Parties!
www.lincolnworld.com
My hubby and I, had the pleasure of seeing Lincoln Kamm, perform at The Magic Castle in Los Angeles. You might remember this blog post about it. We had such an amazing time - my head is still wondering how Lincoln did what he did! Well it turns out Mr. Sacha Baron Cohen thinks so too! He said that Lincoln is the best mentalist in the states and I agree!
Well a few nights ago, I was chatting with him and he mentioned that he did holiday and corporate events! I was thinking how cool it would be to have a magician at a private party and it turns out it is more affordable than one might think. Imagine all your guests "oohing and awing" at your next party!
To find "good" magicians in you area ask for references at a local magic shop or google it! To book Lincoln for a party in Souther California you can email him at lincoln(at)lincolnworld(dot)com. (he also travels to parties and corporate events)

Books: Knit Aid
Check out Vickie Howell's new book Knit Aid! What a fantastic idea and the cover is so cute. I love the "pocket size" perfect for on the go - which I am most of the time.
This book would make a great gift :). It is the kind of book every knitter should have. I know it may seem early for the holidays....but, I am thinking this is a great stocking stuffer! The size and price are perfect plus, anyone who knits would enjoy this handy dandy reference.

Magic Castle
We had such an amazing night at the Magic Castle thanks to my pal Lincoln. Lincoln was preforming last night and all I can say is WOW! I sill don't understand how in the world he did his magic. I swear he really is a mind reader - or mind tricker. hahaha
The castle is totally meant to be explored. Each room has so much history and magic going on. One room "The Hat and the Hare" had a great magician performing coin and card tricks. The room was loaded with vintage tiny ceramic bunnies tucked away into glass cases.
The "WC Fields Bar", where we saw the amazing Lincoln, had puppet memorabilia and a mini diorama of the original design for Disney's Haunted Mansion Ride - It even had little ghosts that would swirl around when you pushed a button. I was blown away by the puppet wall - they were so cool.
The "Invisible Irma's Music Room" had a player piano and tiny glass boxes all along the wall filled with 12" tall skeletons performing mini magic tricks. My grandmother is named Irma so it was especially fun to visit this room.
In the "Close Up Gallery", Eddie and I were chosen to sit at the table and be the close up observers. We saw Patrick Heitkam perform he was stunning. Things were appearing and disappearing right before our eyes. He, like Lincoln, read my mind and made a 7 of diamonds appear on the back wall of the room. My mind is still spinning from that trick.

Ellen Show Airs Today!
Kathy, Jenny, Theresa and myself battled through the wind, pollen and long lines with ice creme, laughs, crafty tales, book ideas and the glittery knots in our stomaches.
Ellen did not bring up "glitter" while we were in the audience....but I am convinced that she will bring it up in a future episode - so for now my tivo is staying set on 4:00. The episode airs today so look for us in the audience...

We did get to see the fabulous Jackie Chan! He was funny and so handsome. He was promoting a new action flick called "The Forbidden Kingdom".
We were also treated to the music of Graham Colton. You can check him out on this youtube video.
Here are a few more pics from the previous day!

Glitter Is Not Litter
I am working on my sign for tomorrows "Safe Sparkle Rally" at The Ellen Show. With the help of Crafty Chica I have my poster slogan!!! - "Glitter Is Not Litter: so don't trash it" and now all I need is get my tush glittering. So I ventured into my craft supply room and decided to take pics of my favorite sparkly craft goodies.
In no certain order...drum roll please.....

All different brands, some collected over 20 years ago. By storing them in sifter top spice jars, I can pour or shake, blend colors when one gets low and the screw tops keep the glitter "mess free". I get the jars at cost plus world market.

So safe that it is non-toxic & kid friendly! This stuff works great on felt and you can usually scoop up bottles of great colors on sale during holidays at Mikes or Jos.
Glitter Mod Podge from Plaid is amazing. I have mixed just about everything with Mod Podge over the years: glitter, paints, shimmer powder, etc. and I had pretty good success - or so i thought, until I tried this new product (will be available in Gold and Silver). The glitter is so fine, super sparkly and blended so well that with each brush stroke you get loads of glitter goodness.
Shimmer Pigment Powders
(I never claimed them to be mess free)
I just adore the colors and soft subtle shimmer that you get from powders.
These are all Luminarte.
