Natasha Henstridge parades her trimmed down bikini body

A new species
In a clear departure from the rail thin bodies often displayed by the Hollywood A-list, Species actress Natasha Henstridge proudly showed off her hourglass figure in a brown string bikini.

Natasha, who recently spoke of her acceptance of her newly curvaceous body, didn't appear to have a care in the world as she strolled beachside in Malibu.

Last seen with something akin to a paunch while on the dancefloor, the 34-year-old has clearly worked hard to get her figure back in time for the beach season.

The former international model is still somewhat fuller-figured than she was in her iconic nude role in sci-fi movie Species more than a decade ago.

But she blamed a combination of diet pills and unhealthy eating habits for helping her to maintain the figure required for a movie actress.

However, eventually the pressure to be thin took its toll.

Natasha told People Magazine: 'My body’s definitely gone through a change since coming off all the crazy yo-yo stuff.

'I’ve probably taken some pills that are taken off the market these days, that were like, ‘Oh, but it just gives me an extra boost when I’m working out,' and it seems innocent enough and it’s over the counter.

'Those things have a huge effect on your metabolism and all of a sudden, when you decide to go clean and healthy, things are changing in your body because you’ve done a little bit of damage.

The mother of two (Tristan River Waite, 10, and Asher Sky Waite, 7, by actor Liam Waite) is now happily engaged to Pop Idol reject Darius Danesh.

And although she has embraced her curves, she is still keen on maintaining a healthy lifestyle with daily hikes near her Hollywood Hills home, boot camp sessions and trapeze workouts.

Meanwhile Spider-Man creator Stan Lee has hired Natasha to voice the female lead in Time Jumper, his newest comic invention.

Henstridge will voice Vyle, the story's villain. The digital comic book-style thriller, will be launched Thursday at the big Comic-Con gathering in San Diego, where Lee will host a panel and showcase footage from the project.
